Ascertaining Gandhi II

Posted on May 23, 2013 by bubuenaa
I came across this article today. And it did not from one angle contradict whatever I’ve been saying so long about Gandhi. Gandhi was a miserable failure as a politician. This is not just my view. I’ve given umpteen proofs of the same about his political philosophies not working. Read ‘Breaking free of Gandhian Myths for more’.
And not surprisingly enough, I’ve grown up to be hugely unpopular among my friends for saying this.

I prefer to be so.
And I’ll study more on this aspect about Gandhi. But even more shocking is the fact that ‘Misdeeds of Gandhiji’ post have crept up the most read posts among many other good posts that I’ve written. The problem lies that I’m not in favor of defaming someone or anyone for that matter. It’s just that I write what I feel about people. If I come to know that my analysis of Gandhi was wrong, there would be no delay in owing up the same. But whatever I have discussed about Gandhi with anyone in my circle, the same arguments have come up now and then – Ahimsa. That looks good on pen and paper, not in reality!

Either Gandhi was an idiotic man as a politician or he was grossly misunderstood as a man by both his followers and the persons who wrote about him.
