Continuing the sequel of my last post – Faith. Scientifically there arises pertinent questions that can never be avoided, on the contrary you have such questions to face from the spiritual world of beings as well. Important thing – the principle that I always follow is not to discard anything until and UNLESS A BETTER THING IS AT HAND. Religion is something that is hard to discard away totally, so that gives a prominent reason that it is not totally worthless to give it some thought. Firstly a question to start with – “If it is not very easy to do away with religion, then why so? Why do we need Religion?”
Rightly so, we are living in a world where Science and technology has given us enough and more breathing space to live in. Today, all the superstitions and orthodox beliefs are being nipped in the bud mercilessly, all the Baba’s are constantly challenged with their dubbed logic, all evils are investigated in the light of Science. In this regard, a mention of a book recently released (I don’t remember the exact name) which determines all the properties of the human soul. Given that, we must remember the fabulous debates on Youtube and other websites which uphold arguments held at various prestigious institutions where such topics have been argued upon.
There has been significant discussions on the fact of positive and negative existence of energy, much like the hyped topics of Black Holes among other things. Thoughts of Spiritual Gurus like Swami Vivekananda has been investigated as well (like Torsion Theory), and hence this sub-division of theists and atheists have arisen out of precisely nothing. God exists, or not..this question, as I’ve told many times is not to be answered within a day or an hour’s sitting. It requires some strong perseverance accompanied by persistence mental exercise.
Coming back to what I told at the beginning that we must hold on to something unless and until we get our hands on something better. Human Reason is infinite, human vision is not. We can illustrate infinitude of tings, we cannot visualize them even in our deepest thoughts. Elementary speaking, we can never perceive dimensions above three. Science (Human Reason) can. So for ‘the ultimate triumph of human reason’ – as Stephen Hawking calls it, we need to assume certain things on faith. Human vision can only see unto a point in the time-span and deep philosophical thoughts. That point is the “infinity” of the human mind, a point beyond which “nothing” exists. Normal beings can not see beyond those thoughts. That point, in the normal case, is thus – all-powerful, all-knowing, all-creator etc, because for us, that is the end of it, there is nothing beyond that point to change our lives, and all of us can not reach that point – or that point of mental state.
That ultimate thing, or point, or being, whatever you call it is God.
So if somebody who deeply believes in all Religious scriptures and Deities, or someone who has had “Darshan of God” is asked to paint God, at the maximum limit he will have to come up with a human figure. At most what he can do is give some variations in the form of four hands, ten hands, or a blue skin etc etc.. He’s justified in doing this, because his vision ( or perception of vision ) is limited to a human figure. He cannot extend his vision beyond that point (there are people who can extend their visions beyond such limits, and they are the ones to have had the Ultimate Realization). Hence what atheists do is convince themselves that such anomalous figures with ten hands is not possible in reality, and hence draw a conclusion that there is nothing called “God” (Sometimes Science does not prove to be an exception either). There are many instances where such “Dimensional Analysis” have helped.
Come to the topic of evil-spirited souls. Do you think they exist? (Don’t tell me any stupid stories of ghosts following you and all that…We’re talking more serious stuff over here) The obvious answer that most of us would come up with is a resounding “no”. But have we examined their existence? How do we know thy do not exist when we don’t even know that multidimensional worldly beings may very well exist. They may exist (may not exist) in a different world that possibly has no connection with the human world in which we live in, and ignorance forces us to believe that our three-dimensional world is the only state of worldly living being possible. Could we be driven by misconceptions? This is certainly not an argument to prove that spirits exist, but certainly is a counter-argument to those who believe firmly the opposite without thinking about the other possible consequences or outcomes.
Much a similar case exists in the world of science as well, where we are yet to determine (or find) whether any being outside our limited Milky Way Galaxy exists or not. This universe is infinite (whether it is expanding or not is entirely a different thing) but exploring this universe requires human vision and reason and both needs to be infinite for a proper understanding of it’s real nature. In any case, so many billions of years have passed and explicitly speaking, this has been the problem that has stopped or at least, delayed Science from exploring the deepest mystery of the Universe – how and when did it begin? Many (like Edwin Hubble, see my blog page on this) claim the Universe to have begun from one point with other singularity arguments, we have some doubts on those theories as well.
For long the well-established vision of ‘Believe only what you see’ has been thwarted out in public and thus abstractness has taken it’s own place in our minds. This term has been used by Scientists, Philosophers, great thinkers, religious personalities, atheists alike to explain things that we can always perceive but not explicitly determine where and why they come from….ideas, thoughts, emotions and above all – this human mind of ours. All of these can be felt but our vision stops us from venturing out into the world which is not caught in our retina, so unfortunately enough, we have to establish and believe them on faith.
The last part of this Abstractness on Higher Dimensions will merely illustrate the reason behind some unearthly powers that some people clam to have. Important – this last paragraph is a mere hypothesis, not scientific, that maybe the people (mostly saints and people of that type) who claim to have ‘miracle-powers’ may have reached a higher state of their minds that enable them to see and/or do what we cannot. No Religion accepts miracles as true, no spiritual figure have gone by these powers, our current media and the public have no belief in them either, but that may be the only reason why so many people end up visiting the Nirmal-Baba‘s every year and spend crores on them – those crores could well have erased out much more dangerous curses out of Mother India like poverty, superstitions, illiteracy and the like.
